Public Holiday Nil for Singapore, Hong Kong, China and USA Earnings Calendar There are few earnings that are of interest to me.  These include AMD, Occidental, Alibaba and Lucid. AMD's outlook will lift the lid for the chip industry.  Following the earnings beat for both ExxonMobil and Chevron, we can expect oil players like Marathon and Occidental to do well too.  For the competitive industry of EV, we can look to the earnings of Lucid for their outlook.  Finally, Alibaba will share the earnings on Thursday following being "blacklisted" by SEC - Holding Foreign Companies Accountable Act (“HFCAA”).  It is interesting to learn how the earnings and prospects of "delisting" are being addressed.  (The charts below are mostly taken from investing dot com.) Occidental Occidental's stock gained much interest and price increase following Berkshire's investments in the last few quarters.  Within one year, the price has risen 151.92%.  After hitti...

Why we trade or invest differently? And the most important returns is not money ...

Image
This diagram (below) provides a good summary of skillsets needed for investors, thanks to my knowledgeable friend Mr Steven Lim. Recommended skills to learn for investors In the world of investing, my mission is   NOT   to prove anyone wrong or my investing thesis right . I view investing as a   "1 on 1"   fight between my knowledge, understanding and application (which I hope to call wisdom) against the market . With each of us having   differences in values, personality, upbringing, learning, risk-reward tolerance, investing time-horizon and areas of expertise, we will end up interpreting the same data differently . This can lead us to make different decisions, considerations, strategies, capital allocation and also how we plan to enter and exit the market. There is not one "investing" rulebook.  So long you make money, all is well.   However, I have learnt that eventually, the most important commodity is not money but rather TIME .  Thus,...

Big Tech signals a pending collapse by Gordon Johnson (extracted from his tweets on 26 July 2022) Source : https://threadreaderapp.com/thread/1551959500428640257.html I have highlighted some key parts and shall conclude with my thoughts.  These are his original text and no edits have been done to keep its authenticity. 1/13 Is Big Tech signaling a pending collapse in the office market, as well as the job market? Let's explore; firstly, $AMZN recently announced it's halting construction on 5 office towers in Bellevue WA, w/ a 6th that was planned for construction canceled . $AMZN also put...  2/13... on hold an office tower in Nashville, TN. They also slashed plans on addtl office space in Hudson Yards in Manhattan, after reporting their 1st loss in yrs in Q1. All in, it looks like $AMZN will be shedding 10-30mn sq ft. of excess warehouse space it took on during...  3/13... the pandemic it no longer needs. In fact, in late Jun it emerged that $AMZN delayed or canceled 13...

Public Holidays (Singapore, USA, China & Hong Kong) Nil Earnings Calendar This is a big week of earnings, especially when it involves the Big Tech.  I would pay close attention to Alphabet (Google), Microsoft, Apple and Amazon especially.   As per the CNBC news article dated 11th July 2022 (above), the Tech companies will have much impact on both the market and the USD due to their global footprint. For the automotive makers, General Motors & Ford are due to report their progress.  ExxonMobil and Chevron are due to update their earnings for the energy players.  Apart from these, pharmaceutical players of Pfizer, Merck and AbbVie are due to update too.  A close look at P&G will reveal how the typical household is spending to navigate in such circumstances. The outlook can provide a glimpse as these cover the consumption  In essence, this is an important week for the earnings for the entire US market with key market players .  During the...
