Public Holiday Nil for Singapore, Hong Kong, China and USA Earnings Calendar There are few earnings that are of interest to me.  These include AMD, Occidental, Alibaba and Lucid. AMD's outlook will lift the lid for the chip industry.  Following the earnings beat for both ExxonMobil and Chevron, we can expect oil players like Marathon and Occidental to do well too.  For the competitive industry of EV, we can look to the earnings of Lucid for their outlook.  Finally, Alibaba will share the earnings on Thursday following being "blacklisted" by SEC - Holding Foreign Companies Accountable Act (“HFCAA”).  It is interesting to learn how the earnings and prospects of "delisting" are being addressed.  (The charts below are mostly taken from investing dot com.) Occidental Occidental's stock gained much interest and price increase following Berkshire's investments in the last few quarters.  Within one year, the price has risen 151.92%.  After hitti...

Public Holidays (USA, Hong Kong, China & Singapore) Nil Earnings Calendar This is a big week of earnings.  Personally, I am looking with great interest in Tesla, Netflix, Dow Chemicals and the banking sector. <Note that most of the charts and company profiles are extracted from investing dot com website> Banking sector The banking had the first part of earnings last week.  This week, the earnings for some of the other players will be released.  It will be an interesting industry to watch as they will stand to benefit as we expect the Fed to raise the interest rates.  More than their earnings, their outlook for the coming months will paint an outlook of inflation and recession . Some of the notable earnings that we can look into include Bank of America, Goldman Sachs, American Express and the Blackstone Group. Dow Chemicals Dow Inc. provides various materials science solutions for packaging, infrastructure, mobility, and consumer applications in the United S...

Public Holidays (China, Hong Kong, Singapore and USA) Singapore - public holiday on 11 July 2022 Economic Calendar This week's key economic data will be the Core CPI (Mom) June 2022.  This will reflect the ongoing inflation and with this data, the Fed can decide how they need to adjust their interest rate and asset sales accordingly leading to the next rate hike. The crude oil inventories remain an item of interest as President Biden has committed a portion to be released to the market in an attempt to bring down the surging fuel costs.  This is a good attempt but it may not be sustainable for the longer term.  The crude oil inventories can provide an indication of how the producers view the market demands of coming weeks. PPI is also an good indication on how the inflation has affected manufacturers.  Investing dot come has defined PPI as the following: The producer price index (PPI) measures the average change over time in the prices domestic producers receive for ...

Public Holidays USA - 4th July 2022 (Happy Independence Day) Economic Calendar Initial jobless claims & unemployment rate will be an important data for the Fed Reserve as they incorporate this into their interest rate hike and balance sheet draw down/sales over time.  However, this does not always mean that the people are "living well" as this does not take into consideration if their disposable income is adequate for the current inflationary environment. Crude oil inventories is a good insight into the consumption of the economy and also the future production in the coming weeks.  Oil is the raw material that needs to be processed and go into our daily living in form of gas, gasoline, diesel, grease, lubricants, plastics and more. FOMC meeting minutes will present a prelude of the coming rate hike.  More of the Fed are still advocating for a good 75 basis points hike for the coming interest rate adjustment.  The unemployment and inflation data will be key for th...

Public Holidays (China, Hong Kong & USA) 01 Jul 2022 - Hong Kong Public Holiday Earnings Calendar The charts below are from Earnings Whispers: Personally, I am looking at Nike, Trip, Micron and meme stock Bed Bath & Beyond. #earnings $NKE $TRIP $MU $BBBY  Source is @eWhispers  Now, let us look into Micron in detail: Micron has called over 28% from one year ago and has recently hit a 52 week low of $53.60.   At a P/E of 7.36, this is one attractive holding as we can expect the market's demands for chips to remain high over the future.  It is left to be seen how Micron will perform in the last quarter.  However, the market outlook can weigh much more on the price action than the EPS or revenue announced during the coming earnings call. From the above, the market is expecting an EPS of 2.46 and revenue of $8.68B from its 30 June 2022 earnings.  Will Micron be able to continue its reversal?  Let us monitor this closely.
