Coming to investment, it is no surprise if some of us started with the US markets and continue to have a high concentration of holdings in the US.


Given the recent developments of bank crises, debt, increasing unemployment and earnings, it is needful for us to consider some hedging in lieu of a possible recession.


Apart from diversifying away from a single country for investing, let us consider adding non-USA dividend stocks into our portfolio. Let us do our research as different countries apply different amounts of dividend withholding tax as this will affect our returns. As such, I have extracted a list from one of the websites. However, Let us do our due diligence to ensure that the businesses have sound business fundamentals and financials.


Personally, I have a large portion of my dividend stocks in Chinese state-owned businesses listed on HKSE. Quite a number of them are in the oil & gas industry.


It is to note that China is going to suffer a population decline in the coming years due to low birth rates. Thus, my previous approach of holding some of these stocks forever is likely to change. I am also researching BRICS+ and countries like Vietnam in Southeast Asia.

Technical Analysis Exercise (12Apr2022) This is looking at charts based on technical analysis of their 1D chart.  It is strongly recommended to conduct fundamental analysis before we conduct any technical analysis . Abbreviation  (based on 1D chart) MA = Moving Average MA50 = Moving Average 50 days (short term trend) MA200 = Moving Average 200 days (longer-term trend) Being prudent, I will give preference MACD indicator for the following logic:  I will rather be late than too early.  I may get lesser profits but I could (potentially) avoid a bigger loss (entering too early and catching a falling knife).   One of the factors influencing my decision will be the Beta of the stock (above 1 being more volatile).  If the stock is more volatile, I may consider leaning more on stochastic than MACD.  As per my previous article, MACD is giving a much more reliable signal than Stochastic .
